How to write poetry

they say you're just supposed to do these things
and the words come out
just
                  like
                                    that

and even then
just then
my tab button didn't work
and i had to press the space bar instead

and i wonder when my poetry will ever pick up
when no one ever taught me

and my diction isn't that refined

and the words don't come snapsnapsnap
out on the
page like i see them doing all the time

taunting me.

and i don't even know where to put
the goddamn comma,

or is it
comma.

one day i might figure things out;
that is
if i am so graced

but for now,
.
?


i think i'll stick to prose.
